• x + 3y = 10

• 3x - 2y = 7

________ [GIVEN]

• We have to find the value of x and y.

_____________________________

• x + 3y = 10 ______ (eq A)

=> x = 10 - 3y ______ (eq 1)

• 3x - 2y = 7

=> 3(10 - 3y) - 2y = 7 [From (eq 1)]

=> 30 - 9y - 2y = 7

=> - 11y = 7 - 30

=> - 11y = - 23

=> 11y = 23

=> y = 23/11

Put value of y in (eq 1)

=> x = 10 - 3(23/11)

=> x = 10 - 69/11

=> x = (110 - 69)/11

=> x = 41/11

______________________________

\textbf{x = 41/11 and y = 23/11}

___________ [ANSWER]

_____________________________

✡ Put value of x and y in (eq A)

41/11 + 3(23/11) = 10

41/11 + 69/11 = 10

(41 + 69)/11 = 10

110 = 10 × 11

110 = 110

x + 3y = 10

x = 10 - 3y

Also;

3x - 2y = 7

3(10 - 3y) - 2y = 7

30 - 9y - 2y = 7

- 11y = 7 - 30

- 11y = - 23

11y = 23

  • y = 23/11

So,

x = 10 - 3(23/11)

x = 10 - 69/11

x = (110 - 69)/11

  • x = 41/11
