HEYA......

actually, golgi apparatus is specialised portion of smooth endoplasmic reticulum meant for cell secretion.

it consists of flattened sacs or cisternae, vesicles and large secretary vacuoles.cisternae occur in small stacks .a golgi stack has a convex via face and a concave trans face.

cis face is formative it receives vesicles from endoplasmic reticulum which join to form new cisternae of golgi body that's why it is associated with endoplasmic reticulum !

Hey mate!

Here's your answer!!

Endoplasmic reticulum, or ER, is an interconnected network of membranous structures like tubules, vesicles, and cisternae. Cisternae are the flattened disk-like membranous structures. Tubules are tubular in shape, while vesicles are sac-like structures.

There are two types of endoplasmic reticulum, namely smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) which involves in the synthesis of lipids and rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) which involves in the synthesis of proteins. When ribosomes get attached to the surface of smooth endoplasmic reticulum, it becomes rough endoplasmic reticulum.

The Golgi apparatus consists of a system of membrane-bound vesicles arranged approximately parallel to each other in stacks called cisterns. These membranes have connections with the membranes of ER (endoplasmic reticulum) and the material synthesised in ER is packaged and dispatched to various targets inside and outside the cell through the Golgi apparatus. Its functions include the storage, modification and packaging of products synthesized in ER into the vesicles for transport.
