Given:

90% and 97% pure acid solutions are mixed to obtain 21 liters of 95% pure acid solution.

To find:

Find the quantity of each type of acid to be mixed to form the mixture.

Solution:

From given, we have,

90% and 97% pure acid solutions are mixed to obtain 21 liters of 95% pure acid solution.

Let 90% pure acid solution be A litre

and 97% pure acid solution B

A+B = 21

90% of A + 97% of B = 95% of 21

⇒ 90A/100 + 97B/100 = 95*21/100

90A + 97B = 1995

By Solving A = 6, B=15

So 97% of pure acid is 15 Litre

Answer:

90% and 97% pure acid solutions are mixed to obtain 21 liters of 95% pure acid solution.

To find:

Find the quantity of each type of acid to be mixed to form the mixture.

Solution:

From given, we have,

90% and 97% pure acid solutions are mixed to obtain 21 liters of 95% pure acid solution.

Let 90% pure acid solution be A litre

and 97% pure acid solution B

A+B = 21

90% of A + 97% of B = 95% of 21

⇒ 90A/100 + 97B/100 = 95*21/100

90A + 97B = 1995

By Solving A = 6, B=15

So 97% of pure acid is 15 Litre
