We see that if a=5, a^3-a-120=125-5-120=0. So
a-5 is a factor of a^3-a-120. So divide a^3-a-120 by a-5. The quotient is a^2+5a+24. You cannot break a^2+5a+24 further into simpler terms.
Thus, a^3-a-120=(a-5)(a^2+5a+24)
