Given :

  • Volume of the gas = 40 l
  • Pressure = 150 atm
  • Temperature = 300 K

To Find :

  • Number of moles of gas present in the cylinder

Solution :

Using Ideal gas equation ,

 \\ \star \: {\boxed{\sf{\purple{PV = nRT}}}} \\

Where ,

  • P is pressure of the gas
  • V is volume of the gas
  • n is number of moles of the gas
  • R is universal gas constant
  • T is temperature

We have ,

  • P = 150 atm
  • V = 10 l
  • R = 8.314 l.atm.mol⁻¹.K⁻¹
  • T = 300 K
  • n = (let n)

Substituting the values ,

 \\ :\implies \sf \: (150 )(10 ) = n(8.314)(300) \: \\ \\

 \\ : \implies \sf \: 1500 = 2494.2n \\ \\

 \\ : \implies \sf \: n = \dfrac{1500}{2494.2} \\ \\

 \\ : \implies{\underline{\boxed{\pink{\mathfrak{\: n = 0.6 \: mol}}}}} \: \bigstar \\ \\

Hence ,

  • The number of moles of gas present in the cylinder are 0.6 mol.
