A and b together can finish a piece of work in 12 days.if 'a' alone can finish the same work in 20 days , in how many days 'b' alone can finish it?

a and b together do a work in 12 days; therefore a+b one day's work = 1/12

a alone can do in 20 days; therefore a's one day work =1/20

therefore from above we have '

a+b =1/12....(i) and a=1/20......(ii)

substituting the value of a in equation (i) we have

1/20+b =1/12

b=1/12-1/20

b=2/60

b=1/30

therefore in one day b does 1/30 part of work

therefore b alone can complete the whole work in 30 days
