Hello Mate!

Mass of bullet = ?

Mass of rifle = 2.5 kg

Velocity of rifle and bullet = 1 m/s and 100 m/s respectively.

m1u1 + m2u2 = m1v1 + m2v2

(2.5)(1) + (m2)(100) = (2.5)(0) + (m2)(0)

2.5 + 100m2 = 0

100m2 = -2.5

m2 = - 2.5 / 100

m2 = - 0.025 kg or - 25g

Negative sign shows that bullet is moving in direction opposite to rifle.

Have great future ahead!

Answer:

Mass of bullet would be 25g.

Explanation:

According to conservation of momentum

m1v1 = m2v2

m1 = m2v2 / v1

m1 = (2.5 * 1) / 100

m1 = 0.025kg

m1 = 25g

Therefore, mass of bullet is 25g.
