a carom board 4ft x 4ft square has the queen at the center. The queen hit by the striker moves to the front edge, rebounds and goes in the hole. find the displacement of the queen from the- 1. centre to the front edge 2. front edge to the hole 3. centre to the hole

1. √( 4^2+1^2) = √17
2. √ (4^2+2^2) = 2 √5
3. 1/2 of the diagonal = 1/2 * a√2 = 1/2*4*√2 = 2√2

medhrk: Consider the carom board as square and draw it. Then draw the lines accordingly. Find the diagonal and also the triangles the path of the queen. You will find the answer :)
