Given that,

Length of a copper wire, l = 1 m

Resistivity of copper wire, \rho=1.08\times 10^{-8}\ \Omega-m

To find,

The resistivity of each wire, if it is divided into two pieces.

Solution,

  • Resistivity of a wire is its internal property. It remains same under every condition.
  • Resistance of wire in terms of its resistivity is given by :

R=\dfrac{\rho l}{A}

  • If the wire is cut into two pieces, then its resistivity do not change. It will remain the same.
