The following reaction occurs when Ethanoic acid is added to Sodium carbonate:

2 CH₃COOH + Na₂CO₃ -----------> 2 CH₃COONa + H₂O + CO₂

Here, The Liberation of Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is termed as Brisk Effervescence.
