Hi ,
It is given that ,
selling price of 12 candies = Rs 12
loss ( L ) = Rs 2.40
Cost price of 12 candies = S. P + Loss
C.P = Rs 12 + Rs 2.40
C.P = Rs 14.40
ii ) Now ,.
C.P = Rs 14.40
Selling price = S.P = Rs 16
S.P > C.P then he gets profit .
gain = S.P - C.P
g = 16 - 14.40
g = Rs 1.60
Therefore ,
If the man sells 12 candies for Rs 16
he gains Rs 1.60
I hope this helps you.

Answer:
Gains rs 1.60
Step-by-step explanation:
for 12 candies --- S.P = 12(given)
LOSS = 2.40(GIVEN)
Therefore,CP = SP + LOSS , (LOSS = CP - SP)
ie, CP = 2.40+12
= 14.40
Now for 12candies at, SP = 16,
and CP = 14.40
and SP>CP ; profit
14.40 - 16 = 1.60,gains
