To Find :

  • The numbers

Solution :

Given that , a number is three times another number so,

  • Let the smaller number be x
  • Let the larger number be 3x

According To Question :

  • When the larger number is subtracted from 100, the result is 30 more than the smaller number subtracted from 50.

Then,

100 - 3x = 50 - x + 30

100 - 3x = 80 - x

100 - 80 = 3x - x

20 = 2x

x = 20/2

x = 10

According To Question Given that number is 3 times another number so , 3x

Smaller number=10

Larger number=30

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the smaller number be x,

Then,

The larger number= 3x

According to the question,

100-3x= 30 more than smaller number subtracted from 50

So,

100-3x= 30+(50-x)

100-3x=30+50-x

100-3x=80-x

3x-x=100-80

2x=20

x=10

Therefore,

Smaller number=10

Larger number= 3×10= 30
