According the problem the particle is projected with u velocity and angle θ at t=0 sec

now the initial velocity of the particle is  u(initial)=ucosθ+usinθ

the final velocity of the particle is u(final)=ucosθ

Now when the particle is at maximum height

the change in velocity,

Δu=u(final)−u(initial)

     =−usinθ  

∣Δu∣=usinθ

hence the change in velocity is u sin θ
