A piece of chalk can be broken easily but not possible with iron bar why

intermolecular forces of attraction is more in case of iron bar when compared to a piece of chalk.

molecules of iron are set close together... whereas,chalk have some molecular spaces in between them...so they are easy to break...but iron they are packed tight and no air or molecular spaces inbetween them.....I guess u have seen those small pores in chalks...that helps them to break easily called as air pores or air spaces
