Slip is defined as the difference between the flux ( synchronous )speed & the rotor speed

Slip value is defined in % = ( (Synchronous speed -  rotor speed)/ Synchronous speed)   * 100

f = PN/120

f is frequency = 50 Hz

,P is number of poles = 4

N = Synchronous speed in rpm

50 = 4 * N/120

=> N  = 1500

Synchronous speed = 1500 rpm

rotor speed = 1470 rpm

Slip value = ((1500 - 1470)/1500 ) * 100

= (30/1500) * 100

= 2 %

slip value = 2%

Speed of the rotor of an induction motor is always less than its synchronous speed.
