A piece of ice of floating in water. What will happen to the level water all ice melts? What will happen if the beaker the filled not with water but with liquid a. denser than water, b. lighter than water?

The ice floats on the water, so the ice is less dense than the water. The displaced volume of water by ice will be less than the volume of ice (ice will be partially submerged). When the ice melts, the volume decreases and mass remains constant. Therefore the water level will remain the same.

And if the beaker the filled not with water but with liquid it may be denser or lighter depends upon the density of that liquid...

Since science is above water, the ice must be displacing a greater mass of water. So density change must a play a part...The warming ice cools the surrounding water thus decreasing its volume. the net result is that floating ice doesn't raise water levels when it melts, they stay the same...
