Answer : The equivalent mass of zinc is 32.51.

Solution : Given,

Zinc oxide contains 80.25 % of zinc.

Let, the mass of metal oxide is 'x'.

The mass of metal would be \frac{80.25x}{100} and

The mass of oxide would be \frac{19.75x}{100}

As, we know that the metals react with oxygen to produce metal oxide.

or The mass of metal oxide generated when some mass of metal reacts with the oxygen.

Formula used :

\text{ Equivalent mass of metal}=\frac{\text{ Mass of metal}\times 8}{\text{ Mass of oxygen in oxide}}

Now put all the given values in this formula, we get the equivalent mass of metal.

\text{ Equivalent mass of metal}=\frac{(\frac{80.25x}{100})\times 8}{(\frac{19.75x}{100})}=32.51

Therefore, the equivalent mass of zinc is 32.51.
