a ship on the surface of water sends ultra sonic waves and receives them back from a Submarine under the Water after 5 Secs. If the Speed of Sound in Water is 1400m/s , What is the Distance between the Ship and the Submarine?

Since v=2d/t
2d = vt
d = vt/2
= (1400)(5)/2
= 3500 m

Thus , the distance between the ship and the submarine is 3500 m .

2d = vt

d = vt/2
