a. The amount of water evaporating from a pond in a day is proportional to
the surface area of the pond. 70 litres of water evaporates in a day from
a pond of area 1250 m². If 42 litres of water evaporates in a day from a
pond, what will be the area of that pond?

Answer:

750 m^2

Step-by-step explanation:

L1 = 70 litres

A1 = 1250 m^2

L2 = 42 litres

let us assume that A2 = X

As the amount of water evaporating is proportional to the surface area

Therefore,

L1/L2 = A1/A2

70/42 = 1250/X

70X = 1250*42

70X = 52500

X = 52500/70

X = 750

Therefore, the area of the pond will be 750 m^2

Hope this helped :)
