speed=distance/time
distance=speed x time

speed=60km/hr
time=3hr 15 min
15min can be written as 0.25 hour,as 15/60=0.25
total time (in hours only)=3.25hrs
therefore,
distance=60km/hr x 3.25hr
              =195km

Concept:

  • One dimensional motion
  • One dimension denotes mobility in a single direction or in a straight line.
  • Speed
  • The speed of an item, which is a scalar quantity in everyday usage and kinematics, is the size of the change in that object's position over time or the size of the change in that object's position per unit of time.
  • Distance

Given:

  • Total time of travel t = 3h 15 min = 3.25 h
  • The speed v = 60 km/h

Find:

  • The distance between Agra and Delhi d

Solution:

speed is the distance covered per unit of time

v = d/t

d = v*t

distance is the product of speed and time

d = 60 * 3.25

d = 195 m

The distance between the two cities is 195 m.
