(1) since resistances is in series so the total resistance or the effective resistance is sum of the two resistances.
So,
R = R1 + R2
R = 4 ohm + 20 ohm
R = 24 ohm
(2) here V is not given so we will consider here as V variable.
I = V/R
so. I = V/24
therefore current through the whole circuit is V/24
(3). potential difference of R1......
V = I×R1
V = V/24 × 4
V = V/6
potential difference of R2...
V = I × R2
V = V/24 × 20
V = 5V/6
