Given :-

Ratio between the parallel sides of the trapezium = 4 : 5

Let the parallel sides be 4x and 5x respectively.

Distance between the parallel sides (height) = 18cm

Area of the trapezium = 405cm²

Formula to find the area of a trapezium is 1/2 × h(b1 + b2) where h is the height and b1 and b2 are the parallel sides respectively.

➡ 1/2 × h (b1 + b2) = 405cm²

➡ 1/2 × 18(4x + 5x) = 405cm²

➡ 9(9x) = 405cm²

➡ 81x = 405cm²

➡ x = 405/81

➡ x = 5cm

Hence, the parallel sides of the trapezium are :-

  • b1 = 4x = 4 × 5 = 20cm

  • b2 = 5x = 5 × 5 = 25cm
