If I has a time machine then I would go to the past to be merely an observer of our history and see how close we would be to what we estimate what would have happened. I would see empires raise and fall, no interruptions at any given time because time is delicate and shouldn’t be played around with. So I would travel back and watch the story of humanity unfold, I would take a notepad though and write down any interesting things, see if humanity made any progress at all when it comes to cooperating and if not, see if I could find possible flaws that would be fixable in the present.
