It's a part of the tortoises body. The ribs are fully fused with the carapace plate, and so is the spinal column. ... To remove the shell is to rip its backbone from its body. (Please don't try to remove a turtle from its shell, its not like in cartoons)

No it cant survive without its shell because its skin is very delicate which cannot bear the heat or other climatic conditions…It will die easily…
Not just that, if you pull it's shell out then u are pulling it's back bone out (shell is attached to the spinal cord)
