Parallel sides of trapezium = 25cm, 30cm

⇒ CD = 15cm      AB = 30cm

and, AD = 15cm

Area of trapezium = sum of parallel sides X height/2

For this we need to calculate the height:-

Now draw a perpendicular from D to AB and a line parallel to BC which meets AB at P

∴ PB becomes equal to CD

PB = CD = 25cm

⇒ AP = 30 - 25 = 10cm

Now in ΔAPD

H² = B² + P²

15² = 10² + h²

225 - 100 = h²

√25 = h

⇒ h = 5cm

⇒ Area of trapezium = 25+30 X 5/2

                                    = 55X5/2

                                     = 275/2 = 137.5cm²
