I think yes liquid can be compressed but only in high pressure and normal conditions.

The truth is that it is much easier to compress matter in gaseous form than in any other modality. The gases are composed of molecules very separated from each other. In the case of liquids and solids, the atoms and molecules that compose them are more or less in contact.
