Epithelial tissues cover surfaces because cells are in contact. If these are Classified by shape or structure these are
i. Squamous: it is a single layer of flat cells, lines blood vessels (endothelium), body cavities (mesothelium)
ii. Cuboidal: single layer of cube-shaped cells, it lines tubes of kidney.
iii. Columnar: tall column, single layered rectangular cells. Microvilli is the fingerlike cytoplasmic projections
iv. Transitional: it is multi-layered, shape varies from round to flat with tissue stretching. Lines hollow organs that expand from within (urinary bladder)
