One killed in Meghalaya landslide
Loose soil and big boulders came tumbling on top of one of the cars plying on the Guwahati-Shillong four lane road at Umling at around 6 PM on Sunday killing the person hailing from Nagaland on the spot, the police said.
Seven vehicles, including an oil tanker, were also damaged as the debris pushed them out of the road but their occupants escaped somehow.

Government approves Rs 1,100 crore disaster relief fund for Karnataka, Gujarat
The Committee examined the proposals based on the report of the central team that visited the affected states hit by severe natural disasters.
It approved the assistance from the NDRF in respect of Karnataka to the tune of Rs 1,540 crore and for Gujarat an amount of Rs 562 crore regarding the losses caused by drought and flood respectively,' a Home Ministry statement said.
