Combination of different atoms through stoichiometric ratio forms compounds.

Compound is formed by combination of different atoms that are combined in stoichiometric ratio.

For example when 1 atom of C combines with 2 atom of O, to form a molecule or compound that is CO₂.

C+O₂---->CO₂.

A compound is formed when two atoms or two elements combine together in a proper  stoichiometric ratio.
