The condition of the tenant and farmers before freedom and today is almost the same. No major changes have done to improve their condition. Before freedom, farmers were treated as they were forced to pay revenues and rent which was very high. They also agreed with the terms and conditions of the British which was oppressive. They were not given any help in terms of loans, equipment or labours. They have to make the arrangements on their own.

Today, not any major changes or reforms were made to improve the lives of the farmers. Today, in states like Maharashtra, farmers commit suicide due to poverty and loss in agricultural production. No proper arrangements have been made to help them at the time of drought. Even though, we have the example of green revolution which improved the agriculture production of the country but not the lives of the farmers. Currently, the government has taken the initiative to improve the condition of the farmers, by providing seeds, help with the equipment, loan and arrangement of all the materials that require to increase the production.
