Anemia is a health condition in which the red blood cell ( hemoglobin) count in your blood is lower than normal. This happens when your body does not have enough iron to produce the hemoglobin that carries oxygen to your body tissues, and when sufficient oxygen does not reach the body, it impairs the functioning of the brain and muscles.
A condition of too little iron in the body.

More than 10 million cases per year (India)
Treatable by a medical professional
Requires a medical diagnosis
Lab tests or imaging always required
Medium-term: resolves within months
Iron deficiency is a common cause of too few healthy red blood cells in the body (anaemia). In a pregnant woman, iron deficiency puts the baby at risk of developmental delays.
Fatigue is the most common symptom.
Treatment includes iron supplements and a focus on any underlying causes.
