The phenomenon where the process of production of gametes occurs is called gametogenesis.

In males, there is a 1° sex organ called Testis. This organ has the role of producing sperms.

In females, ovaries are the 1° sex organ by which ovum or eggs are produced.

Gametogenesi:

  • The process by which the male and the 'female germ cells' are produced or developed to form a new individual is called the 'gametogenesis'. The 'male and female germ cells' are called 'gametes'.
  • The 'male gametes' are produced by 'testes' and the 'female gametes' are produced by 'ovaries'. The male genital organ is the penis. The female gametes are also known as ova or egg. These gametes are fused to each other to form zygote after fertilization.
