Mean position-A mean position is any point to is moderate to a extreme position.

  • MEAN POSITION: Mean position is the position of the bob of simple pendulum when it is at rest.
  • As the bob is at it's lowest point in this position, it's potential energy is minimum and kinetic energy is maximum.
  • EXTREME POSITION: Extreme position of simple pendulum is the position when bob has made maximum displacement with respect to it's mean position.
  • As the bob is at it's highest point in this position, it's potential energy is maximum and kinetic energy is minimum.
  • At any given point, during the course of oscillation it's total energy remains constant.
