1.(The scene is Mrs. Packletide and the headman of the village/other villagers discussing the details of the tiger shooting)
Mrs. Packletide:(angrily) I am so much angry at you for duping me! Why did you not tell me the tiger was so old?
Village Headman: (sheepishly) Madam, I on behalf of all the villagers am really sorry! How could we arrange a young tiger for you? Who would risk his life catching hold of a young tiger? Would it not tear us to pieces? Your good self must have been wise enough to judge!
Mrs Paclketide: Do you know how much this tiger hunt has cost me? 1000 rupees to you!; and 680 pounds to that blackmailer, Mebbin; plus the luncheon party. It has cost me a fortune!
The Headman: Madam, we did not know it would cost you so much! We poor villagers just wanted to earn the thousand rupees; as you yourselves came to us for help, we thought it was a good opportunity. We are really sorry madam!
3.(The scene is Loona Bimberton and her friend are at the former's house. They are busy in a conversation)
Loona: So, my arch-rival has done the adventure deed! Where did you get the news from?
Friend: It is all in the news. All papers, all magazines covered the event. How come you don't know!?
Loona:(angrily) I don't have time for such trifles. What else was in the news? Kindly tell me the details!
Friend: There was a long article on the paper on the front page with her picture with the kill. The article said she displayed exemplary courage and marksmanship while hunting the tiger.
Loona: (evincing jealousy) What else?
Friend: It was mentioned in the article that she is planning to throw a party to her friends to celebrate the feat. I am sure she will invite you too. She will take such a pleasure making you feel small!
Loona: How dare she invite me? If she does, I won't go at all. Enough of rivalry! It is useless. The more you feed it with your hatred, the worse it becomes. I have decided I won't think about MrsPackletide at all!
