Geitonogamy is the transfer of pollen onto the stigma of another flower of the same plant while Xenogamy is the transfer of pollen onto the stigma of another flower that belongs to a genetically different plant. Geitonogamy is a type of self-pollination whereas xenogamy is a type of cross-pollination.
Geitonogamy will lead to inbreeding depression because in this pollination occurs between the flowers of the same plant, so this is basically inbreeding which will lead to homozygosity. It is beneficial as it exposes the harmful recessive genes that are eliminated by natural selection and also the accumulation of superior genes. But continued inbreeding reduces fertility and even productivity. This is called inbreeding depression.
