RER stands for Rough endoplasmic reticulum.

SER stand for Smooth endoplasmic reticulum.

Endoplasmic reticulum is a cell organelle which transports materials from one place to another place in a cell.

The smooth endoplasmic reticulum doesn't have ribosomes on their surface.

But whereas,

The rough endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes on it's surface.

The rough endoplasmic reticulum can synthesis proteins where as smooth endoplasmic reticulum synthesis fats like lipids.
