Fungi grow as chains of cells called fungalhyphae. Both algae and fungi form thallus. The main difference between algae and fungi is that algae are autotrophs, containing chlorophylls for photosynthesis whereas fungi are heterotrophs, obtaining organic material from the sources in theexternal environment.
