No, the standard time of the middle most longitude has been taken as the standard time for the whole nation. This has been done to reduce confusion related to different time zones in the country.

No there is no need because India is not very spread though it is spread. It would make confusion . And the country has now adapted to the standard time in different regions. So there is no need of more than one standard time.
