The Act restricted the freedom of expression and strengthened police powers. Mahatma Gandhi, Mohammad Ali Jinnah and others strongly opposed this Act. After the passing of the Rowlatt act,a nation wide hartal was to be observed which was to beheld by Mahatma Gandhi
