The energy is conserved in a simple pendulum as when pendulum is at initial position it's kinetic energy is 0 and potential energy is mgh and when it reaches at final position then it's kinetic energy= work done is mgh and potential energy is 0, so,
mgh+0= mgh+0
= constant
so energy is conserved.
