Peninsular means covered three sides by water bodies. It consists of Deccan plateau, eastern and western coastal plains and ghats.
Indian peninsular plateau has Indian ocean to its south, Arabian sea to its west and bay of Bengal to its east.
It has eastern coastal plain and eastern Ghats to its east and western coastal plain and western ghats to its west.
We can see a gradual change in climatic condition when we go from coastal plains to ghats and to deccan plateau.
This region mainly has igneous rocks. The crops grown here mainly need moderate rainfall except ghats. Ghats in this region receive very high and orographic type of rainfall and have laterite soil. In some places like coasts have red soil due to presence iron.
