In direct current (DC), the electric charge (current) only flows in one direction. Electric charge in alternating current (AC), on the other hand, changes direction periodically. The voltage in AC circuits also periodically reverses because the current changes direction

direct current-
if a current flows through a uniderictional then it is said to be direct current
alternative current-
if a current flows through many directions and also reverse it's direction at regular intervals it's also used in power supplies
