The non-cooperation movement was started by Gandhiji to boycott the usage of foreign goods and promote Indian goods.
Gandhiji was of the thought that the movement will be successful if people follow the rule of non-violence.
However, I took violent turn when protestors put police station on fire which killed 22 police officers in village named Chauri-chaura. Gandhiji thought the movement lost its non-violent character and hence called of the movement.
