Casteism is indeed a challenge to Indian Democracy because caste determines many an aspect in the election process. Below are a few examples
1. Caste plays an important role in the candidates getting tickets from major political parties.
2. Candidates are fielded in constituencies based on the demography and caste constitution in a constituency.
3. even after election, the ministerial berths are allotted based on the caste of the candidates so that the major castes are appropriately represented and appeased.

Hence, we can say that caste determines all the major aspects of democracy and thus is a challenge to Indian democracy.
