=) 100y = 54.54

Subtract both eqs,

=) 100y - y = 54.54 - 0.54

=) 99y = 54

=) y = 54/99

Hence 10x = 2.54

=) 10x = 2 + 0.54

=) 10x = 2 + 54/99 (put value of 0.54)

=) 10x = 2 + 6/11

=) 10x = 28/11

=) x = 28/110

=) x = 14/55.

Hence 0.254 as a fraction in simplest form. { 54 has got a bar over it } = 14/55
