Opposite of acceleration is deceleration, the rate at which an object slows down. Deceleration is the final velocity minus the initial velocity, with a negative sign in the result because the velocity is dropping. The difference of final velocity with the initial velocity and we need to indicate this in negative sign due to dropping of velocity. Remember acceleration is vector quantity it has both magnitude and direction, for deceleration also the thing is same.

If you are in a fast moving train, but when train nears the destination station the passengers feel the slows down and they even feel a force which made them move forwards, that is effect of deceleration.

SI unit of acceleration is m/s^2, and deceleration also have same units but it comes with negative sign.

Note: Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity of an object with respect to the time. And the velocity is the rate of change of position with respect to reference frame. Velocity is similar to speed but it also have direction of the motion.
