Maximum or minimum of quadratic function occurs by x = - b/2a
f (x) = -2x² + 3x + 4
x = - 3/(2 x ⁻2) = 3/4
f (x) = -2(3/4)² + 3(3/4) + 4
= -9/8 + 9/4 + 4
= -9/8 + 18/8 + 32/8
= 41/8
