The resulting battery will have  1.25 Ω.

Explanation:

Given,

Voltage (V) = 2 V and internal resistance (R) = 0.5 Ω

To find, the resulting battery = ?

Apply Ohm's law,

V = IR

⇒ 2 = i × 0.5

I =\dfrac{0.5}{2}=\dfrac{5}{20}=\dfrac{1}{4} Amp

The five cells are connected in series,

=\dfrac{1}{4}+\dfrac{1}{4}+\dfrac{1}{4}+\dfrac{1}{4}+\dfrac{1}{4}

=\dfrac{5}{4} or 1.25 Ω

Hence, the resulting battery will have  1.25 Ω.
