The fuse wire should have High resistance so that it can withstand high temperature
But if it has high melting point , when there is excess current flowing the fuse will not melt which results in short circuit

This is as if the conductor/the wire has a high melting point the automatically its resistivity will decrease. Therefore making it conduct less electricity..........
........( thats what i learnt)
