If we freeze water it becomes ice and we can again melt that ice by heating to get the water. Hence, it's a. reversible change since we are getting back the water.

But, if a candle is burnt, we will not get the candle back and hence it is an irreversible change.

Jess12345: but if we take the wax we can for the candle agsin
Jess12345: again
Jess12345: why?
Jess12345: Anyways it is because we consider the thread of the candle which when burnt cannot be obtained again which forms into various gases and ash like CO2
Jess12345: etc
Jess12345: And the wax when burnt forms hot liquid wax but she cooled again you obtained wax

Freezing of water is a reversible change while burning of a candle is an irreversible change.

Explanation:

  • Freezing of water is reversible change as on heating frozen ice changes to water by heating. Because after freezing water changes to solid form. When we hear it or leave for some time the freezed water regain its original form(liquid). Hence freezing of water is reversible change.
  • Burning of candle is irreversible change as on reversing the conditions we cannot get candle back out of CO_2, water vapors and wax vapors. The burning of candle wax to form hydrocarbons is a chemical change. The burning of the candle wick is a chemical/irreversible change. While the melting of wax is reversible, It can be again used after it has been melted as it gets back to its original form once the temperature gets lower.
